HIDIZS MK10 ArcSonics Review - Akros

Akros positions the HIDIZS MK10 ArcSonics  in one of audio’s most competitive price ranges. In his opinion, HIDIZS has done more than assemble inexpensive parts: the shell, driver, and tuning feel deliberately developed to create an IEM that performs strongly for its price.

Built to Feel More Expensive

Akros describes the MK10’s build quality as top-notch. The solid shells look considerably more expensive than the asking price, although their polished finish readily collects fingerprints. The shells are also slightly larger and heavier than usual, but in his ears they fit perfectly without complaints.

The included pouch and cable are basic, which he accepts given the price. He did not use the stock cable for his main listening, instead using a TRRI cable. After initially trying the original ear tips, he switched to KB Ear KB7 tips.

Three Nozzles, Subtle Differences

The MK10 includes black, red, and white tuning nozzles. On Akros’ unit, he finds the black and red options effectively the same. The white nozzle adds upper-frequency energy, alongside a slightly larger soundstage, imaging presentation, and more precise detail retrieval.

However, that extra energy becomes too prominent around 5kHz for his personal taste. He therefore prefers the black nozzle for the stock configuration. He also experimented with personally retuning another nozzle, but clearly separates that modification from how the standard MK10 performs.

Clean Bass and Excellent Male Vocals

With the black nozzle, Akros hears bass that is clean, detailed, impactful, and weighty. It hits firmly, cleans up quickly, and transitions smoothly into the mid-bass and mids without bleed. He does not consider the MK10 a basshead IEM, but finds the available bass solid and satisfying.

Female vocals sit somewhat forward while retaining enough weight to avoid sounding unnecessarily shouty. Male vocals are the standout for him, while female voices remain clean and detailed.

Technically, he considers the MK10 capable, with decent staging, imaging, and detail retrieval. Timbre and tonality are especially convincing in his experience. On some tracks, however, he wanted more upper-end detail or a larger soundstage.

Overall Assessment

Akros sees the HIDIZS MK10 ArcSonics  as both technical and, importantly, musical. He finds it fun, engaging, and entertaining across genres including jazz, pop, EDM, and dub. In his comparisons, he personally found its performance surprisingly close to more expensive and established alternatives, although fit, price, and individual tuning preferences remain important.

Listeners wanting a bass-heavy signature or maximum upper-end energy may prefer something different.
