HIDIZS MK12 Turris Review - Akros

Akros comes away highly impressed by the HIDIZS MK12 Turris, particularly by the quality of its 12mm magnesium-alloy dynamic driver. For him, the MK12 succeeds where many larger-diameter single dynamic driver IEMs have struggled, combining capable hardware with a tuning that feels musical, organic and alive.

Bass Is the Star

Bass is where Akros believes the MK12 shows its greatest strength. He describes it as phenomenal: clean, detailed and capable of resolving complex passages across a wide variety of music. Despite its generous thickness, he does not hear the bass bleeding negatively into the midrange.

Instead, that low-end presence gives the mids lushness, fullness and richness. Akros considers the resulting presentation more organic and old-school than conventionally clinical. He particularly values how the MK12 maintains musicality rather than pursuing technical correctness at the expense of enjoyment.

The mids are also nicely handled in his experience, although listeners seeking ultimate midrange cleanliness may find the added weight and coloration less ideal. Treble is comparatively shy. Akros finds it sufficient for an overall balanced presentation, but occasionally wishes for a little more sparkle and energy up top.

Three Nozzles, More Flexibility

The MK12 includes gold, silver and red interchangeable nozzles. Akros prefers the gold nozzle for his listening. He finds the difference between gold and silver relatively small, while the red nozzle creates a more noticeable change and a warmer presentation.

He feels the nozzle system adds useful versatility, though he suggests that a more distinctive third tuning with additional upper-frequency energy could have made the three options even more complementary.

Premium Feel, Modest Extras

Akros says the IEMs themselves “scream premium.” Despite their unusual shape and relatively substantial weight, he finds them ergonomic, comfortable and non-fatiguing in his ears. He also considers the construction solid and the driver notably high quality.

His reservations center mainly on the accessories. For an IEM positioned at this level, he expected a nicer carrying case. He would also have preferred a thicker cable with interchangeable terminations, although he treats these as minor issues rather than deal breakers.

Overall Assessment

Akros ultimately calls the HIDIZS MK12 Turris “phenomenal.” He recommends it to listeners wanting to move away from more conventional tuning toward something more organic, musical, slightly colored and old-school in character.

Its clean, precise and impactful bass is the standout, complemented by rich mids and strong scaling as volume increases. Listeners who prioritize maximum midrange neutrality or brighter, more energetic treble may prefer a different presentation. For Akros, however, the MK12 is a seriously compelling single-DD option whose driver quality, bass performance and musical character make it absolutely worth considering, especially for listeners who value tonal richness over a strictly analytical sound presentation overall.
