He also appreciates how its imaging, spacious presentation and tuning options complement that musical character without pushing the MS2 PRO toward an overly analytical sound.
Built Like a Tank
Construction is one of Chris’s biggest positives. He describes the zinc-alloy shells as durable, uniquely styled and exceptionally well made. They are somewhat heavy, but he experienced no discomfort during long sessions after finding the right fit.
For critical listening, Chris used the Charm Red nozzle, the supplied 4.4mm cable and third-party ear tips. He finds the cable functional and easy to handle, although slightly thinner than he prefers and occasionally prone to tangling. He personally likes the supplied leather storage bag, but recognizes that others may prefer a protective carrying case.
Musicality Comes First
With Charm Red, Chris hears a slightly warm, smooth and dense presentation with strong dynamic energy. Bass reaches deep with physical weight and punch while maintaining generally clean outlines and relatively quick recovery.
It is not basshead-level to him, but its emphasis is substantial. Chris warns that listeners wanting tighter, leaner bass may find it excessive, and bass-heavy tracks can mask some information elsewhere in the mix.
The midrange carries warmth from the bass while retaining clarity and definition. Chris considers the presentation roughly 60% musical and 40% analytical. Lower mids have good body, while upper mids gain extra shimmer and energy. That vibrancy can approach glare for sensitive listeners, even though it stops short of becoming problematic for him.
Smooth Treble, Useful Detail
Treble is smooth, energetic and naturally presented in Chris’s experience. It adds brilliance, air and crispness without sounding artificial or harsh to him. Detail retrieval is above average in his opinion, although he stresses that the MS2 PRO is not an analytical detail specialist.
The stage is above average, with good width, height and especially depth. Separation generally performs well, while imaging is particularly precise, though some dense tracks can become congested.
Overall Assessment
Chris Love considers the MS2 PRO a strong value and an easy recommendation for listeners who enjoy rich, rhythmic and emotionally engaging sound without giving up clarity and technical competence.
It will be less suitable for listeners seeking restrained bass, dark upper mids or an ultra-analytical presentation. For Chris, however, its combination of build quality, deep controlled bass, organic mids, smooth treble, imaging and dimensional staging makes it a rewarding musical all-rounder. He also values the three tuning nozzles, which offer useful variations without transforming the underlying character completely, and considers it well worth its stated $99 asking price.
