SuperChonk came away more impressed by the HIDIZS MY LIN than expected. Built around a hybrid driver configuration and three interchangeable tuning nozzles, MY LIN takes an energetic approach to music while keeping its stronger bass response under control.
A Design That Wants Attention
MY LIN uses a solid zinc-cast chassis based on the MS2 PRO design. SuperChonk finds the shell comfortable, durable, and substantial enough to handle plenty of use.
Its faceplate gives the familiar shape a noticeably different personality. Carbon is layered with pink and purple glitter-like elements that change their appearance depending on the light. The result is bright, reflective, and intentionally dramatic.
Inside the package are Bass and Balanced ear tips, three tuning nozzles, a cleaning cloth, stickers, pouch, cable, and an acrylic Lin stand. SuperChonk calls the stand sturdy, well-made, and genuinely functional, with enough space to hang multiple earphones.
Bass With Weight and Movement
Using the stock red Balanced nozzle, SuperChonk describes MY LIN as V-shaped with a slight bass lift.
Its low end is impactful and dynamic. Kick drums arrive with authority, and the physical nature of the bass brings movement and excitement to music. The mid-bass also retains enough presence to give notes body and weight.
Most importantly, the bass remains controlled. It is plentiful and energetic without overpowering the other frequencies, creating a balance between physical impact and an enjoyable overall sound.
Vocals Stay Full and Clear
Male vocals have a full, powerful quality with enough richness to sound grounded. Female vocals benefit from the upper-mid lift, coming across clean, forward, and engaging without becoming shouty.
The tone carries a little warmth without sounding heavily colored or clinical. SuperChonk also considers resolution genuinely solid for the asking price, with smaller nuances becoming easy to notice.
Instrument separation follows the same pattern. Individual musical lines remain identifiable instead of collapsing together, making it easier to focus on specific elements within a track.
More Breathing Room Up Top
Treble adds air and spaciousness without introducing harshness. SuperChonk specifically notes the absence of a piercing or fatiguing edge, with smoother transients helping MY LIN remain comfortable during longer listening sessions.
The soundstage is compared to a small hall: contained rather than enormous, but with clear left-to-right separation and enough room between instruments.
Refining the MS2 PRO
SuperChonk sees MY LIN as an improvement over the HIDIZS MS2 PRO rather than a complete reinvention. Compared with the MS2 PRO, he finds MY LIN’s treble airier and more defined, giving the sound greater openness and engagement.
Overall Assessment
SuperChonk describes MY LIN as fun, engaging, and easy to enjoy without overthinking. He also appreciates that its tuning does not simply follow current trends.
Ultimately, MY LIN exceeded his expectations and earned a strong A-minus rating.
