HIDIZS MK12 Turris Review - DucBloke

DucBloke approached the HIDIZS MK12 Turris expecting a capable single dynamic driver IEM. Instead, it completely overturned his expectations. He calls it a “beast,” repeatedly praises its performance, and believes HIDIZS has achieved something special with its 12mm magnesium dynamic driver.

A Standout Single Dynamic Driver

Sound quality dominates DucBloke’s review. He describes the MK12 as a detail, clarity and tonality beast, with excellent channel matching and performance that punches well above its price class.

Using the red nozzles transformed his initial expectations. While measurements of the gold and silver options made him anticipate a potentially shouty presentation, the red nozzles reduced the hotter upper-mid and lower-treble region. To his ears, the result was silky smooth treble without bloated bass or shoutiness.

Detail, layering and soundstage all impress him strongly. He rates the MK12’s layering and tonality at S tier out of the box, while texture also performs at a very high level. He considers the stock performance firmly high A tier overall.

PEQ Unlocks Even More

DucBloke’s evaluation places particular emphasis on PEQ. After extensive tuning and listening across 30 songs, he created a warmer target with additional sub-bass, adjusted lower mids and carefully shaped upper frequencies.

In his experience, these changes improved rumble, vocal presence, soundstage, detail and layering. His scoring rose from 9.43 out of 10 to 9.67 after PEQ, moving the MK12 solidly into his S-tier ranking.

Even without EQ, however, his recommendation remains emphatic. He says he would absolutely buy and recommend the MK12 in its stock form.

Premium Shells, Less Premium Accessories

DucBloke likes the metal shells, describing them as premium looking, well fitting and impressively constructed. He also considers the included ear tips excellent, although he maintained his usual Divinus Velvet tips for consistent testing.

His main criticism concerns the accessories. The stock cable is thin, somewhat prone to kinking, and has a chin slider that does not hold well. He believes an IEM performing at this level deserves a more premium cable. He similarly dislikes the included squeeze-style case and chose not to use it.

Overall Assessment

DucBloke gives the HIDIZS MK12 Turris an enthusiastic recommendation. He considers it phenomenal for its price, with S-tier qualities already present in its layering and tonality before EQ.

With his preferred red nozzles and PEQ, he ranks it solidly S tier and believes it can outperform significantly more expensive options. For listeners willing to experiment with nozzle selection and especially PEQ, DucBloke sees the MK12 as an unusually capable single-DD IEM whose sound performance easily outweighs his complaints about its cable and case.
