HIDIZS MK12 Turris Aluminum Review - Passion for Sound

Transparency That Draws You Into the Music

The defining quality of the MK12 Aluminum for Passion for Sound is transparency. He describes it as wonderfully resolving and nuanced for its price, creating the feeling of hearing deeply into recordings.

Its single dynamic driver presentation also sounds highly coherent to him. Every instrument feels as though it belongs within the same recording, preserving immersion instead of breaking the presentation into separate elements.

The result is an engaging and enjoyable listen from the moment he plugs it in. With the silver nozzles installed, he hears a large soundstage, abundant fine detail and texture, alongside an impressive sense of realism and articulation.

Silver Nozzles Bring the Magic

All three tuning nozzles sound good to Passion for Sound, but the silver option is easily his favorite. It produces what he considers the MK12 Aluminum’s most transparent, energetic and insightful presentation.

The red nozzle adds bass weight and punch, although the mids can occasionally become less prominent within the mix. Treble can also remain slightly peaky at times.

The gold nozzle reduces treble slightly and may introduce a little more bass. Although this appears closer to his warmer personal preference, he prefers the brighter silver tuning because the alternatives lose some transparency, energy and feel.

A Comfortable Aluminum Design

The aluminum MK12 also earns praise for its physical design. Passion for Sound likes the distinctive shell appearance and finds the earpieces light, comfortable and not excessively bulky. The aluminum version therefore combines a substantial visual identity with an easy fit in his experience.

The included tips provide additional tuning possibilities and work well enough, while the silver-plated copper cable is perfectly serviceable but fairly basic. He similarly considers the included tips functional rather than particularly premium.

He also remains skeptical of bold marketing comparisons with substantially more expensive headphones and explicitly rejects the idea that the MK12 Aluminum replaces such models. HIDIZS provided the review pair, but he states that the company had no influence over his conclusions.

Overall Assessment

Passion for Sound calls the HIDIZS MK12 Turris Aluminum “absolutely brilliant,” particularly with the silver nozzles. He believes its transparency, nuance, resolution and spacious presentation can compete with some more expensive IEMs and headphones.

Listeners preferring warmer tuning may find the silver configuration slightly brighter than ideal. Nevertheless, its coherent presentation, impressive detail, comfortable aluminum construction and musical insight make this version of the MK12 an unusually impressive performer at its price.
