After reviewing the standard MK12, Passion for Sound returned to examine the limited-edition HIDIZS MK12 Turris Titanium. He also mentioned that the driver and tuning nozzles remain the same, with the housing being the key change. Yet to his ears, the titanium version delivers a distinctly different and better listening experience.
Titanium Changes More Than the Appearance
The machined titanium construction immediately distinguishes this edition. Passion for Sound admires its brown-purple gradient finish, explaining that its natural coloration becomes spectacular under different lighting.
More importantly, he hears meaningful sonic differences between the standard and titanium versions. In his experience, the titanium MK12 sounds more spacious, open and refined, with better-controlled treble and added warmth.
He describes the Titanium as fundamentally the same IEM as the standard MK12, but simply a better version of it. He considers the upgrade easily worth the additional cost for listeners who can afford it.
A New Favorite Nozzle
Interestingly, his preferred tuning changes with the titanium shells. On the standard MK12, he favored the silver nozzles for their transparency. With the Titanium, however, the red nozzles become his favorite.
He finds the Titanium sufficiently transparent, clean, articulate and open with all three nozzles, meaning he no longer needs the brighter silver configuration to achieve the insight he wants.
The red nozzles provide excellent bass weight and impact while balancing the treble effectively. The bass itself is weighty and solid rather than particularly fast, snappy or punchy. Gold delivers a clear, articulate and spacious presentation with strong central imaging, although its treble can occasionally approach fatigue for his preferences. Silver becomes brighter still and is his least-preferred option here.
An Exceptionally Open Presentation
The defining strength of the MK12 Titanium is spaciousness. Passion for Sound considers it one of the most open and spacious IEMs he has tried at its price. Instruments are well separated and carefully placed, creating a soundstage that invites the listener to mentally wander through the presentation.
He appreciates that this openness remains intact across all three nozzle options, allowing listeners to choose a brighter or warmer character without sacrificing the Titanium version’s core strengths.
HIDIZS provided the review unit but had no influence over his conclusions.
Overall Assessment
Passion for Sound regards the HIDIZS MK12 Turris Titanium as an improvement over the original model he enjoyed. He praises its machined titanium construction, greater spaciousness, refined treble, transparency and flexible tuning.
His enthusiasm is strong enough that he wishes the Titanium were the primary MK12 rather than a limited edition. For listeners able to spend more than the standard version costs, he considers the upgrade worthwhile, especially for those who value an exceptionally open, clean and spacious presentation.
