cqtek considers the MS2 PRO an evolved hybrid whose improvements extend beyond its distinctive construction. He scores its construction at 96, bass at 91, separation at 90 and quality-to-price performance at 94, while his sound assessment is based primarily on the default Charm Red nozzle.
Distinctive Build, Considerable Weight
The ZA12 zinc-alloy shells earn strong praise for their design and construction. Despite weighing around 13 grams per earpiece, cqtek finds them comfortable when paired with suitable tips. Their rounded inner surfaces fit him securely without rubbing, although he does not recommend them for running because of their weight.
He is less enthusiastic about the thin cable relative to the heavy shells and would prefer a zippered carrying case for greater protection.
Charm Red Sets the Reference
cqtek prefers the Charm Red and Midnight Black profiles, but uses Charm Red as his reference. Red produces a calmer, more balanced version of the MS2 PRO's V-W character. Midnight Black slightly strengthens bass while smoothing the upper peaks, whereas Crystal Clear creates the most excited presentation around the upper mids.
Bass Shows Control and Precision
Bass is more pronounced than neutral, with weight, depth and presence. cqtek hears it as fast, crisp and effective, with limited decay and strong control. Complex bass lines remain distinct and focused, giving the MS2 PRO impressive resolution and definition in this region.
The mids are less even. Their lower half feels recessed and somewhat hollow to him, leaving male vocals with limited physicality. Upper mids become considerably more prominent, especially with Crystal Clear, creating extra clarity and brightness but also an imbalance between the two halves.
Treble begins with considerable energy. cqtek describes it as sharp, crisp, bright and agile, yet refined enough to avoid sounding excessively metallic or artificial. Still, listeners seeking soft treble may find even the red configuration abundant.
Separation Over Pure Scale
Positioning is clear and orderly, with strong laterality, good height and appropriate depth. Separation is a major strength, although background micro-detail can occasionally become diluted by the bass or less-present midrange.
He also finds the model easy to drive with different sources. Its three nozzle options let listeners adjust the balance while retaining its underlying character.
Overall Assessment
cqtek sees the MS2 PRO as a technically accomplished evolution with excellent construction, efficient drivability and flexible tuning. Its controlled bass, clarity, separation and energetic upper range should appeal to listeners wanting an informative, lively presentation.
Those preferring fuller lower mids, softer upper frequencies, lighter shells or a more protective case may be less satisfied. Crystal Clear can become particularly piercing for sensitive listeners. For cqtek, however, Charm Red offers the best reference balance, while Midnight Black provides an appealing alternative.
