HIDIZS MS2 PRO Review - Johan Gautreau

Johan Gautreau approaches the MS2 PRO as an affordable hybrid IEM with a neutral signature and tuning flexibility to adjust its character.

His review emphasizes value, presenting the MS2 PRO as an accessible choice that delivers convincing performance while retaining some compromises around its price.

Johan tested the MS2 PRO with the FiiO Q11, HIDIZS S9 PRO Plus Martha, Hifiman EF499 and FiiO R7.

Comfortable Build With Entry-Level Touches

Johan likes the zinc-alloy shells, mirror finish and leather-covered faceplates, describing the assembly as attractive even though its finishing is less precise than the MK12 Turris. The package is reasonably complete, although details such as the simple plastic ear-tip holders reveal its entry-level positioning.

The earpieces are relatively small and remain comfortable during long listening sessions. However, Johan notes that the 2-pin connector rests against his ear and can become uncomfortable over time, though not painful. He also appreciates being able to choose between 3.5mm and 4.4mm cable terminations when ordering.

Balanced Sound With a Bright Edge

Using several sources, Johan hears a balanced presentation that leans toward neutral but sounds slightly cold. Bass hits firmly and extends well, while the treble can become bright in places and occasionally sound artificial.

That treble emphasis has an advantage for vocals, which stand out clearly in the mix. Johan believes listeners who enjoy vocal-focused music should appreciate this quality. He also considers the MS2 PRO dynamic and capable for its price, even if the presentation is not flawless.

Wide Stage, Direct Presentation

The soundstage stretches wide but offers little depth. Johan characterizes the presentation as direct, with the sound pushed toward the listener rather than creating a deeply layered space.

Precision remains a strength. He hears plenty of detail, helped by the elevated treble, and considers the technical performance respectable for the MS2 PRO’s price category.

Johan recommends switching to the red filters to soften brightness peaks and bring forward more bass, adding warmth to the overall presentation.

Overall Assessment

Johan Gautreau considers the MS2 PRO a successful budget-oriented hybrid for listeners who enjoy bright, precise sound, prominent vocals and a wide presentation. Its tuning filters also provide useful flexibility for adjusting the balance.

Listeners looking for warm, soft tuning or those sensitive to brightness peaks may find it less suitable. Its soundstage also lacks depth, and the treble can occasionally come across as artificial. For listeners comfortable with a slightly bright signature, however, Johan sees the MS2 PRO as a detailed, dynamic and appealing option below €100 at the time of his review.
