Headfonics reviewer Marcelo examines the MS2 PRO as a flexible hybrid IEM offering six sound combinations through three tuning nozzles and two ear-tip styles.
Marcelo explores how the different tuning configurations shape the MS2 PRO’s sound, comparing their individual characteristics before identifying the combination that best matches his listening preferences.
White Nozzle Is His Preferred Setup
After trying the available combinations, Marcelo prefers the white-ringed nozzle with the black ear tips. To his ears, this pairing comes closest to Harman-style tuning and produces a moderately V-shaped signature with boosted bass and treble alongside only slightly recessed mids.
The overall tonality is somewhat bright, although not excessively so for Marcelo. He cautions that treble-sensitive listeners may perceive it differently.
Taut Bass and Balanced Mids
Bass focuses on the mid-bass while retaining good sub-bass extension when required. Marcelo hears it as taut, boosted and clean rather than bloated, with good articulation and detail.
The midrange is flat, smooth and slightly recessed. Lower and upper mids remain well balanced, allowing vocals and instruments to retain body and note weight while still sounding detailed and precise.
Treble is more complicated. Marcelo hears elevated energy and some peaks above 3 kHz. These do not become overly harsh for him, but they introduce slight grain and additional sibilance. He also notices an upper-treble dip that reduces perceived air and gives this region a somewhat dry character. Despite this, he considers the integration between the dynamic and balanced-armature drivers good, even at louder volumes.
Imaging Stands Above the Stage
The soundstage itself is average in Marcelo’s assessment, offering adequate width, height and depth rather than an especially expansive presentation. Imaging performs better. He describes stable, well-defined positioning, clear separation, consistent left-to-right movement and firmly centered vocals.
Dynamic performance is also good, with satisfying bass punch and lively attacks through the mids and treble. Resolution, however, remains average regardless of the nozzle and ear-tip combination.
The MS2 PRO is easy to drive, and Marcelo confirms its high sensitivity works well across the different sources he tested. Despite the 13-gram metal shells, Marcelo found their ergonomic shape and stock tips comfortable during extended listening sessions.
Overall Assessment
Marcelo sees the MS2 PRO as a strong option for price-conscious listeners who value tuning flexibility and imaging performance. Its six possible sound combinations make it adaptable, while his preferred white-nozzle and black-tip setup provides clean bass, balanced mids and energetic treble.
Listeners sensitive to brightness, sibilance or dry upper treble may find its presentation less appealing, and those prioritizing exceptional resolution or a large soundstage should temper expectations. For listeners seeking an easy-to-drive IEM with good imaging and meaningful tuning options, however, Marcelo considers the MS2 PRO appealing at its $99.99 listed price.
